About products and suppliers

A hair crimping tool is a styling tool with zig-zag plates or wavy plates used to add a wavy texture to hair. Waves are achieved by pressing the hair between heated parallel plates with S-shaped repeating grooves, making the hair look frizzy and have an ultra-voluminous finish.

How to use a hair crimping tool

Wash your hair and allow it to dry completely; crimping wet hair is not recommended. Brush and comb your hair to ensure it's knot and tangle-free before starting. To begin, separate hair into even sections. Starting at the roots and working your way down, sandwich your hair in between the crimper hair iron and hold them down for 5-10 seconds. Go section-by-section, focusing on the width of your beach wave crimper down the length of your hair. For quicker styling, use a bed head crimper that can handle large chunks of hair. Always ensure you are not pressing down a hot crimper curling iron for so long that it burns your hair. As with all heat styling, thin hair should be crimped at a lower temperature than thick hair, so it's important to use a hair crimper with multiple settings to accommodate your hair type and to prevent damage. Also, always use a wavy hair crimper on dry hair, a heat protectant prior, and a texturizing spray to set the wave and keep it from falling flat as the day goes on.

What to consider when choosing a hair crimper

Choose the right-sized crimper iron as per your hair type. For long and thick hair, go with a wider crimper; for short hair, a crimper for short hair is an excellent choice. The plate of the hair crimpers is made from different materials like ceramic or metallic. Choose the best hair crimper that evenly distributes heat. Pick a crimper with adjustable temperature settings to style your hair at a desirable temperature. Lastly, consider the type of crimp you want in your hair. Different hair crimpers have different numbers of teeth. The more teeth on the crimper plate, the more texture and volume. The fewer the number of teeth means the gap between the teeth is wide, thus giving less volume and more wave to the hair.
